Additional Baggage Allowances
Domestic Within Australia
Additional baggage allowance may be purchased on a piece basis.
A maximum of five additional pieces may be purchased in advance per Qantas operated flight. A maximum weight also applies for each additional piece, which is determined by the customer's membership status as follows:
- Non-Frequent Flyers and Bronze Members travelling in Economy - 23kg per piece. If the customer's bag is over this weight (up to 32kg) a Heavy Charge will apply at the airport.
- Platinum, Gold, Silver Frequent Flyers and Qantas Club members travelling in Economy - 32kg per piece.
- All customers travelling in Business - 32kg per piece.
Airport excess baggage charges and/or heavy charges will apply at the airport for any pieces in excess of the customer's checked baggage allowance and pre-purchased additional allowance, regardless of Frequent Flyer status.
Norfolk Island
Additional baggage may be purchased on a weight basis for additional allowances of up to 15kg, 25kg or 35kg per flight.
Airport excess baggage charges and/or heavy charges will apply at the airport for any pieces in excess of the customer's checked baggage allowance and pre-purchased additional allowance, regardless of Frequent Flyer status.
Christmas Island and Cocos (Keeling) Island
Additional baggage may be purchased on a weight basis for additional allowances of up to 15kg, 25kg or 35kg per flight. Checked baggage allowance, plus any additional baggage purchased must not exceed 65kgs.This limit also applies to all Qantas Frequent Flyers and Qantas Club members.

International - Other Than the Americas
Additional baggage allowance can be purchased for additional allowances of 5kg, 10kg, 15kg, 25kg or 35kg per flight.
Airport excess baggage charges and/or heavy charges will apply at the airport for any pieces in excess of the customer's checked baggage allowance and pre-purchased additional allowance, regardless of Frequent Flyer status.
International - The Americas
Additional Baggage Allowance may be purchased on a piece basis.
A maximum of five additional pieces may be purchased in advance per flight. A maximum weight also applies for each additional piece, which is determined by the class of travel and Frequent Flyer status as follows:
- Non-Frequent Flyers, Bronze, Qantas Club, Silver and Gold Frequent Flyer members travelling in Economy and Premium Economy - 32kg (70lbs) per piece.
- Platinum Frequent Flyers travelling in Economy and Premium Economy - 32kg (70lbs) per piece.
- All customers travelling in Business and First class - 32kg (70lbs) per piece.
No individual piece may exceed 32kg (70lbs) weight.
Important Information
Additional baggage allowance is not available for flights operated by another carrier (such as codeshare or interline flights) or if you are connecting to/from a flight operated by another airline within 24 hours of your Qantas operated flight. The additional baggage rates of the operating airline applies in these instances.

Changes
Changes Made by Your Customer
If your customer changes the flight where an additional baggage allowance has been purchased, you must refund the original EMD issued via your Technology Partner and issue a new EMD for the amended associated flight.
Please ensure your customer takes the baggage receipt to the airport for proof of purchase.

Changes Made by Qantas
If Qantas changes the flight where an additional baggage allowance has been purchased, you should refund the original EMD issued via your Technology Partner and issue a new EMD for the new flight.
Refunds
You can request an auto refund of the additional baggage allowance EMD through your Technology Partner, provided the request is made at least one day prior to the scheduled departure of the first flight in the booking.
A refund cannot be requested if your customer fails to check in for the flight and has not cancelled or changed the ticket.
