More capacity to Australia and Tokyo
Qantas is boosting capacity on flights between Melbourne and Tokyo, and on trans-Tasman routes as travel to Australia and Japan remains popular. In total, more than 45,000 extra seats will be added to Australia and Tokyo by early next year.

Melbourne–Narita: services will go from daily to 11 flights a week between December 2026 and March 2027, which adds 30,000 seats on the route.

New Zealand–Australia: Qantas is also adding frequency over the summer peak, including:
- More than 15,000 extra seats added between Queenstown and Sydney/Melbourne/Brisbane.
- An increase of up to 10 per cent more capacity between Auckland and Sydney due to larger aircraft and additional flights.
