More capacity to Tokyo and across the Tasman
Qantas is boosting capacity on flights between Melbourne and Tokyo, and on trans-Tasman routes as travel to Japan and New Zealand remains popular. In total, more than 45,000 extra seats will be added to Tokyo and Queenstown by early next year.

Melbourne–Narita: services will go from daily to 11 flights a week between December 2026 and March 2027, which adds 30,000 seats on the route.

Australia–New Zealand: Qantas is also adding frequency over the summer peak, including:
- More than 15,000 extra seats added between Sydney/Melbourne/Brisbane and Queenstown.
- An increase of up to 10 per cent more capacity between Sydney and Auckland due to larger aircraft and additional flights.
