About Qantas Economy Plus

Qantas Economy Plus has arrived, our new seating option designed to give your customers an even more comfortable way to fly in Economy.

Customers can experience it firsthand from 18 September 2026 on our A330 fleet, on flights to popular Australian destinations including Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane.

Qantas Economy Plus is currently available on our A321XLR, Boeing 737 and Airbus A220 fleet, on flights across Australia and to popular short-haul international destinations including New Zealand, the Pacific Islands and Bali.

You'll be able to select or purchase an Economy Plus seat for your customers through Manage Booking, or via your Technology Partner.

How seat selection works

Seat selection works the same as today. You can choose seats for your customers during booking or at any time before check in via Manage Booking.

When selecting seats, look for the seat product label Qantas Economy Plus.1 Seats can be selected or purchased based on your customer's Frequent Flyer tier up to 24 hours before departure.

Once check in opens (24 hours before departure), any remaining eligible seats can be selected on a complimentary basis. Access to Qantas Economy Plus seats will be available exclusively to eligible Frequent Flyers, based on tier benefits.

If no seat is selected, one will be automatically assigned.

4. How do I reserve a Qantas Economy Plus seat for my customer?

You can select or purchase a Qantas Economy Plus seat by selecting your customer's seat when making their booking. Customers can also select their seats at any time through Manage Booking on qantas.com or in the Qantas App.

We recommend selecting Qantas Economy Plus seats at the time of booking, with the ability to purchase seats available up to 24 hours prior to departure and complimentary selection available at any time prior to departure. Qantas Economy Plus seats will be complimentary for Platinum One and Platinum members, and complimentary for Gold members at check in, subject to availability.

5. Are you charging for seats that were previously free?

On aircraft not configured with Qantas Economy Plus, customers will still have access to a range of seating options. Extra Legroom seats remain available, and Forward Seating zones are being expanded across the Economy cabin, giving customers more flexibility to select seats towards the front of the Economy cabin. Platinum One, Platinum, Gold and Silver Frequent Flyers will all get complimentary access to Forward zones.
9. Are there any limitations or restrictions when booking a Qantas Economy Plus seat?

Some Qantas Economy Plus seats are located in an Exit Row. To sit in an Exit Row, your customer must be at least 15 years old, be willing and able to follow instructions given in English by the crew, and satisfy the Exit Row Requirements.
10. If I reserve a Qantas Economy Plus seat for my customer, is it guaranteed?

Seats may be reassigned for operational, safety, or security reasons, even after boarding. If your customer's seat is changed and we cannot reseat them in Qantas Economy Plus, your customers will be eligible for a refund.
11. Are there any changes to how Status Credits or Qantas Points are earned when booking Qantas Economy Plus?

Preferred seating is being replaced with Forward Seating. Preferred seating is located in the front half of the Economy cabin, but excludes Economy Plus seating. All Forward seats are complimentary for Platinum One and Platinum members from booking. Gold and Silver members also receive complimentary access to Forward seats, with some seating options within the Forward zone available from booking and additional options available from 24 hours before departure, subject to availability. Forward seating is available on all Qantas operated flights, excluding Dash 8 fleet.
15. What happens with my customers' seat selections on bookings made before 6 February 2026?

For bookings made prior to 6 February 2026, Qantas will honour the original seat selection. If that seat is reclassified as a Qantas Economy Plus seat, you can retain the seat for your customer without any additional charges. Please note that operational changes may still occur. 16. What are the benefits of selecting my customers seat before check in opens?

With the introduction of Qantas Economy Plus and Forward seating zones, the benefits of selecting a seat at time of booking, or as soon as possible afterwards, will increase. Qantas Economy Plus and Forward seats will remain available for purchase up until check‑in opens, 24 hours before departure. After check‑in opens, access to these seats will be available exclusively to eligible Frequent Flyers, based on tier benefits.

Once check‑in opens, if you haven't selected a seat, one will be automatically assigned and there will be more limited opportunities to select an alternative seat in the cabin. Selecting a seat in advance helps ensure your customers have access to a wider range of options and makes it easier to choose the seat that best suits their preferences.
